SPEED OF TRAMCARS.
LIMITATIONS IMPOSED. The speed of tramcars in certain parts of the city area is to be restricted to * a maximum of 18 miles an hour. A special ! order making this provision was passed by i the City Council last evening. The streets i in which the speed-limit named is not to be exceeded are:— College Road, from Ponsonby Road to Beaumont Street; Victoria Street West, from Hobson Street to Halsey Street; Wellesley Street West, from Hobson Street to Queen Street Wellesley Street East, from Symonds Street to Queen Street; Svmonds Street, frcm Newton Road to Wellesley Street East; New North Road, from Mount Eden Road to the city boundary, Mount Albert; Khyber Pass Road, from Grafton Road to Boston Road : Alpha Road; Mamikau Road, from St. Stephen's Road to Alpha Road. Under the same special order the by* 1 laws were amended to raise the license fees payable by motor-cab drivers from Is .to £1 "per year. The special order will come up for confirmation a month hence. i
