TOTAL OP 22 WOUNDED. The 765 th casualty list gives the names of two men who havo been killed in action, three who arc- supposed to bo dead, and 22' who havo been wounded. Private Robert Purcell, Takapuna, of tho Second, Wellington, Battalion, while in London on leave from the Command Depot at Codford ( was run over by a motor-bus near Windmill Street, Tottenham Court Road, and killed. The coroner's jury returned a verdict of accidental death. Captain Noel John Hay Gavin, R.A.M.C... M.C. and bar, Wellington, who died in France on November 1, met his death as the result of an accident. His horse bolted, and fell, throwing Captain Gavin on to his head, and fracture ing his skull. He died very shortly after leaching a casualty ' clearing station. Captain Gavin had been, in England on leave, and had been back in France only a few days before he met his death. Hehad been attached for some time to the 14th Royal Irish Riflen. Captain A. T. • Abiaham, M.C., Manchester Regiment,: tho eldest son of the late Rev. T. P. Abraham, rector of Risby, Suffolk, was killed in action on October 22 at the age of 32. At one time. Captain Abraham was farming in New Zealand. and' he left the Dominion to take up land in Vagros Island, B.C. On the declaration :of war he joined the Canadian Infantry as a private, so that he saw service very early in 1915. At the first battle of •Ypres he was badly gassed. Recovering, he returned to the front, remaining there until he was commissioned to the Third, Manchester, Regiment. In June of, this year he was awarded the Military Cross, the next month he received his flrßt pro-, motion, and his captaincy was bestowed on him 10 days before he was killed. Second-Lieutenant P. E. Frankau, Rifle Bricade, killed in action while attached to the Cameronians, was the second son of the late "Frank *> Danby." the novelist. In 1911 he married Miss Frances B. Miller, of ; Te Puke, New Zealand. Early in life Lieutenant. Frankau gave up his scholastic, career in. order to devote himself to farming, and exploration. . He had travelled. considerably, and finally bid settled in Rhodesia, enlisting at the outbreak, of the, war in the Rnodesian Contingent, He obtained his commission in April, 1915.
