An enemy party, crossing the Piave River, was repulsed. The enemy is in contact with the Italian line from the Brenta River to the Lower Piave. Four former Premiers of Italy have promised to support the Government to the utmost of their power until the present menace of invasion is removed. The position in Russia remains obscure, each of the con« fe; testing parties claiming to have prevailed. It is reported that a triumvirate consisting of M. Kerensky, General Korniloff, • v and General Kaledin, leader of the Don Cossacks, has been formed to control the country. Further details of the Bolshevik! coup in Petrograd describe deeds of the utmost violence committed upon adherents of the Provisional Government resisting the extremists. It is reported from Sweden that an extensive battle in the neighbourhood of Petrograd resulted ;in favour of M. Kerensky's party, that practically the whole X of the capital is in his hands, and that guards have been formed to protect the embassies. Another report states that all the embassies and legations are leaving Petrograd. As the result of another rapid advance in Palestine, * \ British forces are within seven miles of Ramleb, the centre of I the Turkish defence, 37 miles north of Gaza. j
