INDUSTRIAL ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of the Auckland Provincial Industrial Association was held yesterday in the Chamber of Commerce rooms, Mr. S. J. Harbutt presiding. A number of replies were received in response to the association's .invitation requesting opinions concerning the report of the association's Educational Committee. A number of trades unions approved of the recommendations in the report, white the Carpenters and Joiners' Union requested that the proposals should be explained more fully, The replies were referred to a committee which was authorised to appoint a speaker to appear before the Carpenters and Joiners' Union. The Education Board wrote granting permission for representatives of the association to address the higher standards of 'the larger city, schools on the subject of New Zealand industries. Mrs. Baume, Messrs. £'. M. Hills, and L. JoL! were appointed to select speaker to deliver addresses at. the Bchools after'the Christmas holidays. , The Headmasters' Association wrote stating that ' the reason school children had not visited factories* to learn something of' New Zealand industries, was that the various teaching staffs had been so depleted through the war that proper escorts could not be provided for the pupils. The " co-operation of the association was requested by the Chamber of - Commerce in appointing a committee to arrange to have a series of representative displays sent Home for exhibition by the High Commissioner in London It was agreed to send representatives to any meeting-called for" the purpose indicated. A' resolution expressing sympathy with Mrs. S J,, Nathan and family, and recording appreciation of the services rendered 'to the association by the late Mr. Nathan, was passed. An address was delivered bv Mr. F Norris honorary organiser of the National' Service ■League, on the aims and objects of the league, and a committee was appointed to consider proposals for the more effective carrying out of the league's organisation.
