. DEVONPORT BATHING SHEDS. Sir,—Referring to Mr. P. T._ Willis's suggestion that the present bathing sheds on the Devonport waterfront should bo utilised for the separate use of the children, I am pleased to stato that this has already been decided upon by the council. The council recognises that this rei serve has become very popular with tho I young folks, and hopes to make further provision for their recreation. J. Henderson, Mayor. SUMMARISED LETTERS. Herbert A. Yeldham writes:—"Tho 'social evil* is not within the grasp _ of politicians nor the medical profession. These can deal only with results. it is the Church whic'i has the power, and parents who have _ the opportunity of lessening moral evil, and showing how futile is the search for true happiness in selfish, vicious, immoral conduct." "Matuwhero" suggests that municipalities should have- power to regulate the conduct of boardinghouses.,. " Householder " writes:—lt is to be hoped that tho local authorities will mako an early and vigorous effort this summer to reduce the great nuisance and menace to health of the fly pest. What is needed is a systematic destruction or sterilisation of the brooding places, arid 1 venture to suggest that our municipal authorities might with great profit to the community undertake the treatmont of such places.
