Chelmsford, for Mangapai. at 6 p.m. Owing to it being a public, holiday yesterday thero was very little movement in the shipping in port, Only four vessels worked cargo, this being done in order that they may be despatched as quickly as possible. Tho schooner Elsie Mary arrived at Gisborne from Auckland on Sunday night, Last week's Gazette contains a notice to mariuorsin connection with the forthcoming changes in the examinations of masters and mates. The Board of Trade recommends the most suitable books for examiners to study in conncotion with the new subjects to bo introduced. . The owners of 14 coastal steamers at Wellington are calling for crews to sign on with one man on a ws.lch. The schooner Eunice, which was wrecked on the South Spit at Wanganui, has completely broken up. All .her masts haw gone, and the stern portion has broken a,wsy and washed up on the beach. The main portion of the hull is fettling down in the sand.
