The Onehunga Borough Council met last night, the Deputy-Mayor, Mr. Stoupo, presiding. ~ . Mr. R. H. Abbott wrote asking the council to meet him in conference with regard to proposed operations of the Waiatarua Drainage Board. Ho suggested that matters in dispute might be amicably settled. The Deputy-Mayor said that Mr. C, J, Parr, M.P., would bo in Auckland on Saturday, and he suggested that after conferring with him tho council might meet Mr. Abbott. This was agreed to. As the outcome of a meeting of Mayors of suburban boroughs contiguous to Dunodin, the Onehunga Council was asked to join a combined deputation to the Minister for Railways in reference to the unsatisfactory suburban train service. It was decided to take no action. It was decided to have Queen Street from Trafalgar Street to Princes Street put in thorough repair, as recommended by the borough engineer. It was agreed to raise the allowance to members of the Fire Brigade for attendance at fires from 2s 6d to 8s 6d for the first v hour and 2s an hour afterwards, the officer in charge to re.eiva 6d an hour extra. The police are to be communicated with regarding a complaint from Mr. A. J. Hill that mar slab# had been removed from a grave at tiWailTaraka Cemetery.
