OVER Si 'FEET OF RAIN- I LESS THAN TEX' MONTHS' FALL. ] The rainfall in Auckland daring the present year to date constitutes a record for the past 63 years, although only nine months and eight dijys have yet elapsed. , Up to 9 a.m. yesterday the fall registered ■ in Albert Park by the official observer, , Mr. F.A. F. Burnett, was .84in for the , first days of October, which brought the total fall since January 1 last to sft 7.12 in. The total fall for the completed year 1916 was sft 7.10 in, which was at that time a record for any completed 12 months in the previous 62 years. _ This had been exceeded yesterday morning by .02in. It will be seen that the rainfall for the first nine months and eight days of this year has exceeded the fall for the whole of 1914 by 3ft 2.58 in, and that for the completed year 1915 by Ift 5.19 in, Of further interest is the fact that in four months during the present year, namely, February, April, May, and July, record rainfalls have been registered. The rainfall for the 24 hours ended midnight, as registered by the Herald gauge, was 1.41 inches. \ ■ I
