The Westport' Coal Company's utoamer Canopus arrived from Westport on Saturday afternoon and berthed at the King's •Wharf: '.The vessel was delayed for .40 hours through th<> ."ale' which- was blowing on Wednesday. She left Westport at 3.30 a.m. on Tuesday, and in the afternoon ran into a strong north-west Rale, with a very heavy sea. In /he evening speed had to be reduced to prevent the seas breaking on board.- At 9 a.m. on Wednesday verv little progress was being made, and M the gale showed no sign of abating the ship's course was altered for Cook Strait. After, sho reached the -strait the sea moderated, end the vessel completed her- voyage up, the east coast, moderate to light . northwest winds being experienced all the way to Auckland. .
THE TARAWERA. The Tarawera arrived from Southern ports, via Wellington, on. Saturday night, and berthed at the Queen's Wharf. She is timed to sail for Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin at noon on Wednesday. THE TE ANATJ.
