GROTESQUE CLAIMS.
BRITISH REPUDIATION. "VICTORY" OVER HORSES. (Received 11.5 p.m.) , A. and N.Z-Router. LONDON, Sept. 30. Replying to an inquiry by tho General Staff as to whether there was any foundation for various reports in Turkish communiques of British reverses, General Maude, commander of the British forces in .Mesopotamia, states: "I do not intend to contradict Turkish communiques regularly. They are consistently fictitious." He mentions a Turkish claim that on Wednesday one British cavalry detachment on the Euphrates was completely annihilated. The actual fact is that three horses were- wounded in a patrol uTush.
