EXTENSION OF INQUIRY OPPOSED In regard to the proposed tribunal in connection with the seamen's dispute, tho - secretory* of the Seamen's Union 'has written to the Prime Minuter, declining • to agree to the suggestion made by : the shipowners that the tribunal should deal with general matters in depute concerning the interpretation of -he industrial agreement. In the same letter the seamen complain of the alleged action of' the ship« owners in bringing about the withdrawal of the extra man in the watch from the Tainui. In view of tins action we desire to know svhat steps, i f any, your Government proposes taking against the Shipowners' Federation and the owners of this vessel for incitbg Md procuring a seditious lock-out in an essential ir>« dustfy."
