"THE BIRTH OF A NATION."
There would be more horses than the present 30C0 shown in Mr. Griffith's miehty spectacle, "The Birth of a Nation," if the European War had not broken out when this part of the great production was being completed. The foreign drain on American horseflesh is something the average citizen has no comprehension of. Mr. Griffith had to bee borrow, and buy the horses for bis lar?e scenes, and they were corralled from all parts of the country. He found a rents of the English, French. Italian, and Russian Governments competing with him for these horses, and while he only rented them bv the day. the foreitm demand was so jrreat that many shrewd horsemen forced him to buy at war prWs i n order to complete his production within a riven time "The Birth of a Nation" will be shown at the Lvrin Theatre, commencing on Mondav next, thereafter daily at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. for a limited season.
