AMERICAN SHIP LOST.
FOUR OF CREW KILLED.
WASHINGTON, July 11.
The State Department announces the sinking of the steamer Kansan. Four of the crew were killed by the explosion. Her cargo was valued at £500,000.
The Kansan, a steel 'twin screw fourmasted steamer, belonged to the Ameri-can-Hawaiian S.S. Co., and was of 7913 tons register. She was previously known as the Massachusetts, and was built in 1903.
NORWEGIAN VESSELS SUNK (Reed. 7.30 p.m.) COPENHAGEN, July 11.
Two Norwegian sailing vessels, the Asheam and the Oxoi, were torpedoed by submarines in the Atlantic. Some memberg of the crews were lost.
