ASSISTING SHIPBUILDING.
NO ACTION BY GOVERNMENT. [BY TELEGRAPH— CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON. Wednesday. Replying to a suggestion by Mr. C. H. Poole (Auckland West), that the Government should consider the advisability of getting ships built under Imperial subsidy, the Minister for Marino stated to-daV that the Government is closely watching all developments in connection with ship" ping matters, but while the war continues, it is not considered possible to embark en experimental industries under State direction and finance.
