DEMAND FOR STUD SHEEP.
PRICES FOR NEW ZEALAND LOTS.
Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received 10.56 p.m.) SYDNEY, July 3. The stud sheep sales were continued to-day. The demand for Merinos was firm, and prices were steadily maintained at rates materially better than last year. There was an exceedingly keen demand for British breeds and record prices were paid. Among the New Zealand lets Border Leioesters sold on behalf of Messrs. Douthwaite, Nixon, Rennie, and Sutherland ranged from sgns to 50gns. Corriedales on behalf of Mr. Ensor realised 9gns to 72^gns. MATERNITY ALLOWANCES. EXPENDITURE OF £661,360. . MELBOURNE, July 3. During the year 132,272 maternity allowances were granted, involving ait expendiI ture of £661,360.
