The barometer has been unsteady and h>\s remained considerably below normal in „he south. Unsettled weather has prevailed, with rain in most parts, and strong and squally northerly and westerly winds have ruled.
TO-DAY'S FORECAST. Present indications are for westerly winds, strong to gale, and changeable, squally conditions. Rain probable generally, and heavy rain, with rivers rising, on the West Coast and southernmost districts of the South Island, with snow on the higher levels. The barometer will be unsteady, and will fall further, especially in the south.
