AUCKLANDER HONOURED.

AWARDED MILITARY CROSS. A. and N.Z. Cable. LONDON, June 18. Lieutenant Harold Speight, of the New Zealand Field Artillery, has been awarded the Military Cross. Lieutenant Harold Speight is tK& eldest soil of the late Mr. W. C. Speight, of Auckland. Lieutenant Speight was formerly attached to the local staff of the Ban): of New Zealand, afterwards being transferred to the Hamilton and Raetihi branches, and finally to the head office at Wellington. He left New Zealand with the Artillery branch early in the war, and while on Gallipoli, where he saw considerable service, he received his stripes. After the transfer of the New Zealand Division to Franoe he was awarded a commission. Early last month information was received that he had been wounded" in the face, and after a short stay in hospital in France he was transferred to the New Zealand hospital at Walton-on-Thames.
