WAIKATO WINTER SHOW

SUCCESSFUL EXHIBITION.

FURTHER LIST OF AWARDS.

FBI 'iklKsUpb.—srzcui. ESTC&TMLI HAMILTON, Wednesday. Tim Waikato Winter Show was continued to-day, under fine weather conditions. Apart from tho large increase in the number of exhibits in all classes at the exhibition, their quality and character are strikingly indicative of fact that the farmers of the district are adopting the most modern methods of production. In addition, every kind of mechanical contrivance used on farms is on Tiew. Milking machines are much in evidence. The hum and bustle of the machinery section emphasises the importance of labour-saving machines at the present time, when it is essential to maintain production. Although th« show may be termed as the dairy farmers' special function, it has. a much wider significance, and the fact of -the Waikato Winter Show having attained such a degree of excellence, while being striking evidence of the progress of the district, is none the lees a special tribute to those who have been responsible for the arduous work entailed in the promotion of such a large and important undertaking. The restricted railway service has not affected the attendance of visitors. Both southern and northern trains to-day were crowded, and accommodation in Hamilton is taxed to its utmost capacity. Notwithstanding the. absence of railway facilities, in the way of special trains or exoursion fares, the attendances for the first two days have exceeded any of the past years, and to-night the takings were much in excess of last year's total*. Today's programme included milk-testing competitions and a display of physical drill by the pupils of the primary schools within the immediate vicinity of Hamilton. A conference of dairy factory managers, held in the lecture hall, was a representative gathering. The following is an additional list of awards :-r.
