THE CHATHAM ISLANDS. [BY telegraph.—press ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH. Wednesday. In connection with tho appeal of Seton Henderson, sheep farmer, Chatham Islands, the Military Service Board received a letter from the Efficiency Board slating that there were so few European males left on the islands that it was a question whether it would he desirable to further deplete the population for military purposes. All the Maoris were engaged in fishing, and as 40 Europeans had gone to the war, only some half-dozen single men were left on the island. The appeal was adjourned sine die, on tlio understanding that the appellant would bo railed up without further notice before the second division was called on.
