Waimai and Tenacious" covered more than a mile' and a-half in company at a sound pace. ' , , Addnought, the steeplechase candidate from the South, was worked at a useful pace on the tan, with Captain Loch as a .companion. , , ; . Pip, whilst working at an easy pace on the sand, stumbled, .but no damage resulted. Gluetanus and General Stephen, who have arrived from the Thames, were both worked, the former on the sand, while the latter sprinted in company with one of Tozer's team.
Troublesome indulged in strong pace work on the sand. - Several others sprinted, but nothing really fast was recorded.
THE FENCERS. Sportful and Paul Moore were schooled over the pony hurdles, and afterwards negotiated tho hurdles inside the juvenile track in fair style. ' A deal of interest centred in the fact that the hurdles wore placed in position for schooling purposes outside the course proper after the dinner hour. This announcement attraoted quite a number of spectators to witness Tararu Jack, Ulster, Sylvan Knight, Guiding Way and Monathol indulge in an . essay. They finished in the order named after covering the best part of a mile over fonces. Sylvan Knight and Guiding Way were the early leaders, but once heads were turned for home Tararu Jaok experienced little difficulty defeating the opposition. The 1 rear division hit the last fence hard, but stood their ground. ACCEPTANCES. . The Auckland Racing Club's autumn programme will require further attention at the hands of horseowners to-day. Acceptances close at 9 p.m. for the President's Handicap, Onslow Slakes, Nelson Handicap, and Eden Handicap, 1 and final forfeits for the Great Northern Champagne Stakes, Great Northern Oaks, and Groat Northern St. Leger Stakeß require to be declared by the same date and hour.
