W.C.T.U. CONVENTION.
CLOSING'. SESSION. The W.C.T.U. Dominion Convention closed yesterday alter a very successful' scries of meetings. The following Now I Zealand officers wore re-elected. Mrs. Don, president; Miss Henderson, corresponding secretary; Mrs. Evans, recording secretary; Sirs. Bendely, treasurer. Mrs Crabbo, Palmerston North, was appointed vice-president, and, Mrs. A.. R. Atkinson reappointed custodian of recoils and representative of the union to the New Zea- -i and Alliance Mrs Leo Cpwie's offer ■ accepted' 30 prolubltion campaign was ; A resolution - was passed urging the Gov- ' eminent to take steps to, protect parents ! guardians, and doctors, seeking, or giving information on venereal diseases, in regard to men or women intending to marry. A resolution embodying a protest from the convention" against, the danger of introducing the gambling -elemont in patriotic work, and requesting ' the Government < to collect all necessary , moneys by taxation ' and subscription, was also passed. Another motion • was car- 1 ried' earnestly urging Cabinet to refuse l all racing and totalisator permits during | the period of the war, as there had never < been a timo when economy and reproductive industry were so emphatically a - patriotic duty. '-■ ' r- At the, conclusion 'of tho session votes I of thanks were passed to all who had I helped to make , the convention a success. ;
