ATTEMPT TO DESERT.

SENTENCE UPON McGEE. IMPRISONMENT FOE 11 MONTHS. The sentence passed by Court-martial upon Thomas McGee, builder, of Auckland, who pleaded guilty to a charge of desertion from tho Expeditionary Force by trying to leave the Dominion after having been called up under the Military Service Act was 11 months' imprisonment with hard labour. The sentence has been confirmed by Colonel G. W. S. "Patterson, 0.C.D., and was promulgated yesterday. By reason of this sentence, McGee still remains liable for service. Men undergoing a sentence of not less than 12 months are not accepted for service under clause 3 of the Military Service Act, 1916, consequently tho sentence of the Court still leaves liability to serve.
