«c» . AUCKLAND CLUB. Trial fours for trophies presented by Mr. H. Lewis were held by the Auckland Rowing Club on Saturday afternoon, the results being:— ■ First Heat: Fleming, 1; Lovett, 2. Won by a length. Second Heat: Keefe, 1; Carder, 2. A close race. Won by a few feet. Final: Fleming, Oleal, Benjamin, R. Stevenson, 1; Keofe, Sargeant, Basham, W. Stevenson, 2. From a good start, Fleming gained an advantage which was maintained, his crew winning by just over a length. . WEST END CLUB. ' The West End Rowing Club held a scries of doable scull trials on Saturday under conditions not altogether favourable for rowing, for trophies donated by the committee. Seven crews participated in tie event and many exciting finishes wore witnessed. The results are as hereunder, the stroke's name being montioned first in each crew:— - First Round: W. D'Audney and C. Swanson v. J. Dawes and A. C. Norden. D'Audney came homo first in a comfortable : fashion. D. I. Jones and R. Trevarthcn v. A. Jerrom and L. Culpan. Jerrom gained \ a two - and a-half lengths decision. Dawes and J. R. Collin v. Jones and H. Beamish. In the host race of tho day Dawes was awarded the verdict by half a length. M. O'Connor and B. Courtney a bye. Second Round: A. Jerrom and L. Culpan vf M. O'Connor and B. • Courtney. After a strenuous struggle, O'Connor succumbed to Jerrom. Dawes arid J. R. Collin v. W. D'Audney and C. Swanson. D'Audney won by two lengths. -y< .-. • Final: The sea was in a very cboppy condition and a strong head wind was blowing when the crews went out for the final. From an oven start the crews kept well together until half the distance had been covored. Jerrom and Culpan then quickened. up and gradually drew away, eventually getting a two lengths decision over D'Audney and Swanson. The successful i coxswain was N. Conway, tho others being Culpan and F. Ccnway. Kohn Shiold: Next Saturday the annual trial fours for the Kohn Shield will eventuate. Entries -will bo accepted until Wednesday next.
