PROGRESS OF THE WORKS. ' _____ '•*■& * -"-~~~ <jr> A meeting of the Auckland and Suburban Drainage Board! was held last evening. We Mayor of Auckland, Mr. J. H. Gunoon, presided and there was a good attendance. v A report on the board's works for the past 15 weeks was submitted by the engineer and secretary, Mr. H. H. Wat- ' lons. The report stated that the contract for the construction of the pumping stations was Hearing completion as far as possible, pending the installation of the plant, which had not arrived from England, As it would be some time before foch work could be put in hand, he was of opinion that ;it would be preferable* to close the contract \ and - J make " deductions • for the work: that could not conveniently . be completed. > Station No.- 4 had been taken over from, the contractor. The contract for the construction of the branch fewer along the first portion of Meola j Creek should be completed in about six weeks' time. The report was adopted. ; The engineer and secretary submitted a report in regard to the overflow of certain sewers in the vicinity of Ckmbern Road, Remuera. He stated that the floodin? was due to the relative levels of the water course and the reticulation sewers not allowinu of proper ■ overflow chambers being provided. The city engincor i bad informed him that he was compiling data to enable him to report to the City Council regarding the disposal of stormwater in this locality. It was resolved that the Mount Eden Borough Council be granted permission to connect certain sewers with the board's branch sewer. •'
