EXCURSION TO THAMES.

OLD ACQUAINTANCES RENEWED The annual excursion of the Old Thames Boys' Association took place on Saturday and yesterday. The steamer VVakatere left Auckland at 12.30 on Saturday, and despite the rain which continued throughout the day, there were about 600 passengers. The excursionists included 146 boy scouts, from Ponsonby and Northcote, and the members of the Ponsonby Fife and Drum Band. The boys were met by Commissioner Newton at Thames, and escorted to St. Mary's Hall, where billeting arrangements were made. Yesterday the boys' baud enlivened the Thames streets with some excellent music, and they also visited the Thames hospital, where they played for an hour. The members of the Old Boys' Association renewed old acquaintances in Che usual hearty manner. They left for Tapu, 12 miles from Thames, in motorcars, but were held up by slips. The party left yesterday afternoon for Auckland, and were accorded a cordial "send off" by the Thames people. They reached Auckland last evening after a pleasant trip.
