RISE OF THE WAIHOU.

TE AROHA PARTLY FLOODED [BY TELEGRAPH.OWN correspondent] TE AROHA, Sunday. Rain fell steadily in this district from Tuesday until about 10 a.m. to-day, causing the Waihou River to overflow its banks to an extent equal to that of the flood in January of 10 years ago, which had only been once exceeded in the history of the district. All the low-lying country upstream from To Aroha town was flooded, as also "as a very large area between Te .Aroha and Paeroa. The water in many places covered the railway metals, but traffic has not been interrupted. In Te Aroha, opposite the Domain, the swollen river rose to within about a chain of the main street. At Somerstown, at the northern end of the borough, about half-a-dozen houses were flooded, having about two feet of water on their floors. AH the occupants got safely away, and in some cases took the precaution of removing their furniture. The Northern Steamship Company's goods shed had on its floor about three feet of water, and a considerable quantity of manure that was waiting there for delivery was damaged. A quantity of benzine which was stored near the shed by the Farmers' Auctioneering Company was washed away by the river, but about 50 cases were salvaged by the launches sent in pursuit.
