THE CARE OF THE HAIR.

RfiiiKirnEß that your brushes must always be scrupulously clean. You should wash them in very hot water in which a knob of soda has been dissolved- Take care not to get the backs wet. The way you should wash your hair is as follows Take a dessertspoonful of the best soft soap, dissolve it in. A pint of boiling water, and stir it well, so that the soap is thoroughly melted and there are no sticky lumps left. If yon want to be very luxurious and to have jtaur hair smell deliciously fresh and fragrant, add a couple of drops of oil of verbena or rose geranium to ■ the liquid when it is cool enough to use. Then wet your head with hot water, pour a little of the liquefied soap over it, and rub well into the roots and all over your head till your hair is a mass of lather; leave the lather on for three minutes., and "then rinse your head with hot water till evjry atom of soap is out. Bub your head well with hot towels till it is fairly dry, then brush it with clean brushes, and finally, comb it with a comb that has large teeth. If you are very pressed for time, yon can' finish off the drying part by the fire. However tired you are at night, you can brush or screw up enough (energy from somewhere or other to comb your hair for five minutes every night with a large-toothed vulcanite comb. If your hair is suffering from lack of ventilation, you can give it the air it needs infinitely better with a comb than with a brushGet all the tangles out first and then make a centre parting, and take up a strand of hair with the comb ; .comb your hair straight up away from your head so that the hair can pass freely through it, and let it fall from the comb slowly. Then make other partings, and repeat the process till every bit of your hair has had a thoroughly good airing, and sleep with it loose. Twice a week rub—and rub hard— little bay rum well into the root* of your hair—it will prevent it from becoming too relaxed, and also from smelling sour.
