TRANSPORT WORKERS.

PROPOSED FEDERATION. MEETING OF UNIONISTS. A meeting of transport workers was held in the Auckland Trades Hall last evening under the auspices of the New Zealand Waterside Workers' Federation, for the purpose of discussing the question of t.he formation of a federation of a'! waterside workers in the Dominion. There were about. 250 transport workers, representing various unions, present. Mr. Chas. Weaver, president of the Auckland Waterside Workers' Union, presided. The meeting was address'?'! by the chairman, Messrs. 0. Mcßriue, of Auckland, Geo. Bruce, secretary of the Wellington Waterside Workers' Union. Jas. Huberts, secretary of the New Zealand Waterside Workers' Federation and Transport Advisory Board, and L. •'}. Glover, president of the .New Zealand Waterside Workers' Federation. The speakers, who were accorded an excellent reception, advocated the formation of a transport federation, embracing raihvavmen, drivers, tramwaymen, seamen a.nd waterside workers. The following resolution was carried unanimously:"That this meeting of Auckland transport workers endorse the principle of a transport workers' federation, and all unionists present pledge themselves to do their utmost to bring it into being."
