VICTORIA CROSS GAINED. RESCUE OF WOUNDED. GISBORNE PRIVATE'S DEED. [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] GISBORNE, Friday. Private advices received to-day show that Private Frank Ratcliffe, of Gisbome, has been recommended for the Victoria Cross for rescuing wounded under fire in th& Somme battle. He left with one of the early reinforcements.
