GERMAN ATTACK NORTH OF VERDUN.

CAPTURE OF THE SUMMIT OF HILL 301 CLAIMED. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. AMSTERDAM, Dec 7. A German communique claims the- capture of the summit of Hill 304, west of the Mcusc, and north of Verdun. ("Received 9.-20 p.m.) ' LONDON, Dec. 8. A French communique states: "There is a lively artillery struggle in the region of Hill 30-1." The first. French report on the German attack was published yesterday. It stated that owing to the French machine-guns, the enemy only gained a footing in some advanced elements of trenches.
