THREE VILLAGES TAKEN FROM THE BULGARIANS.
CAPTURE OF 315 PRISONERS AFTER VIOLENT COMBAT. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association- LONDON Nov 1. On the Struma front the British attacked and beat the Bulgarians, inflicting sanguinary losses in the village of Barafeli Djuma, and taking 315 prisoners in a violent combat. The British also captured Prosenik and Kumli." The three villages which have been taken by the British lie to the east of the River Struma, two of them between the river and the Salonika-Constantinople railway, and one, Prosenik, on the railway itself. The Struma front protects the right wing of General San-ail's army based ' on Salonika, and was occupied in strength" when the Bulgarians invaded Eastern Macedonia, which lies to the east of the Struma River. The Struma rises in Bulgaria, and after flowing through Lakes Butkova and Tahmos reaches the sea to the east of Salonika. It s along the portion vi the river lying between thesa two lakes, in Greek territory, that the fighting has occurred. .-
