STATE PARENTAGE.
Sir,—Your correspondent "Ad Astra" has, however unconsciously, justifiel the reform* she assails. For this lady "child" means "my child," while for the writer of State Parentage childhood is apparently Self-sufficient. As I read Mr. Satchell's writings it is the "my child" theory ho seeks to overthrow, and with it your correspondent's distinction between "little girl children with the heritage and tradition of gentle breeding," etc., and the ''rough urchins from the city slums." The Question he asks us— it is a momentous one—is whether this distinction is to be perpetuated or whether there shall bo given to all children the advantages possessed by those of "Ad Astra." E. L. Wisihart.
