MINING NEWS.

GOLDEN BELT. The manager of the Golden Belt mino reports that on No. 1 level the footwall crosscut has now been driven to a distance of 130 ft. There is now a change of country coming in. In the Btope» above the intermediate level, the reef Is looking well, and the ore-that has been broken has been of a good payable quality. Tho ore crushed at the battery has been also of good quality. WAIOTAHI. At the surfaco level, reports the manager of the Waiotahi mine, Thames, tho cleaning up of tho old crosscut has been continued. A further 30ft was completed during the week. HAURAKI REEFS. Stoping has been in hand over No. 3 level on the Golconda reef, reports tho manager of the Hauraki Reefs mine, CoromandeL Ten pounds of picked stono have been saved from the general dirt. In the Wynyardton workings there has been little driving done on the No. 2 face, as timbering has been found necessary. A little picked stono has been obtained Lorn the stops of the rise. Crushing was commenced at the battery last Wednesday, and should be completed some time this week. NEW SYLVIA. The manager of the New Sylvia mine, Thames, reports that in the stope3 above No. 4 level the reef is 3ft wide. On the Norfolk Bection tho crosscut has been advanced 17Jft. The country is again fairly hard. Yesterday a start was made with the erection of the hoppers. OCCIDENTAL CONSOLIDATED. On No. 2 reef, over No. 6 level, reports the manager of the Occidental Consolidated mine, Thames, rising and etoping has been proceeded with. The reef is maintaining its size, being from 12in to 18in wide, and the ore is of good appearance gold being frequently seen in it when breaking down. About 20 loads of general ore have now been saved.
