MINING NEWS.
WAIHI-PAEROA. ' £4550 FROM 16,700 TONS. TOTAL TO DATE, £192,761. During the six ■weeks ended October 21 last the Waihi-Paeroa Gold Extraction Company, Ltd-, treated 16.700 tons of tailings for a return of £4850. Owing to heavy floods in the river eight days' crushing was lost during the period. The company has now treated 653,700 lons of tailings for returns totalling £192,761. The total dividends paid to data amount to £12,500. WAIHI REEFS-GIGANTIC Thti mine manager of tho Waihi ReefsGigantic mine, reports that Bft have been advanced along tho north face at the 300 ft level, making a total length of 213 ft. The west crosscut has been advanced 3ft only on account of hands being required to fix ventilation pipes. This crosscut is striking into what appears to be a strong body of quartz with a little water showing. The country in the north face is unaltered, carrying plenty of mineral pyrites, and it is believed that the west crosscut will prove the bulk of the reef to be in the west wall.
