A TRAGIC BANQUET.
GUEST "TRIED" AND HANGED. The Tribune de Geneve publishes the following account " from an authentio source/' of the trial and execution of Youssouf Al-Hany, a Syrian notable and ex-Vali of Beyrout:— " Azmi Bey. the present Vali of Beyrout, and a member of the Young Turk party, gave a banquet, to which lie invited the military authorities, the Cadi and the Mufti of Beyrout, including You* Bouf Al-Hany. "A friendly conversation followed the banquet, and lasted until midnight. "Then, suddenly, everything wai changed. The Vali made a sign and the banquet became a veritable court-martial, of which ho himself assumed the prtfi-. . deney, Youssouf was accused, tried, and V condemned to death on a charge of treason against the Turkish Government. " At three o'clock in the morning th« unhappy man was hanged in front of the mansion to which he had been invited, " ostensibly as an honoured guest."
