PANAMA CANAL. STRIKING FULL-PAGE PICTURE. To-day's issue of the Auckland Weekly News is a splendid number, containing a large selection of very, interesting "photographs. One of the features is an excellent series of photographs dealing with the recent march of New Zealand's eighteenth ■ reinforcements over the Eimntaka ranges. These pictures show clearly what a' fine body of men they are and the picture* are of peculiar interest owing to the fact that a portion of.the eighteenths are to parade in Auckland at the end of this week. The Roll of Honour this', week takes up five pages, of the number, and contains the portraits of over 200 New Zealand officers, non-commissioned officers, and men who have suffered while advancing to victory against -the Germans in France. Splendid photographs depict the departure from Wellington of the seventeenth reinforcements. A striking "panoramie view shows the Eoyal Army Medical Corps sorting the' .wounded. in one of the villages captured by the British in France. In the background of the view is seen • the row of battered and torn s houses, while a fleet of motor-ambulances is drawn up under the lee of the village. . The continued progress of ; the British" advance on; the western front is portrayed -by an -,admirable series of > pictures, "jjnis - includes a' photograph of Anwcs bring- , ing up,a heavy gun to use against the enemy; men of the London Scottish regiment marching .to the. trenches; a mounted Lewis machine-gun team going ; action; and several other realistic photographs connected with the operations. Among other features is a very striking full-page photograph of a liner ; going . through the Panama Canal. Throughout. the issue reaches a ' particularly high standard, and is bound to be scanned with more than passing interest.
