WOOL FROM THE COLONIES
PROPOSED ARMY CONTROL.
SOUTH AFRICA'S ATTITUDE.
Allot, and N.Z. Cable. LONDON, Oct. 6.
Referring to the Army Council's negotiations to secure control of colonial wool, the Yorkshire Post states difficulties have arisen which may cause a modification of the whole plan.
"It is obvious," says the paper, "that the same scheme should be put into operation in relation to all the colonies, but hitherto it has been impossible to arrive at a common agreement. It is unreasonable to expect that Australia and New Zealand will quietly submit to further restrictions if South Africa retains the free market she has possessed ever since the war commenced-
" There has been severe criticism of South Africa's action in permitting unrestricted export. If South Africa persists in a free export policy, it is bound to react unfavourably for us in other woolgrowing colonies"
