USING THE GERMAN FLEET.

SUITABLE WORK AT LAST.

"A FISHING EXPEDITION."

Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received 7.30 p.m.) COPENHAGEN, Oct. 7.

A German squadron of 60 ships, including light cruisers, torpedoboats, and many armed trawlers, carried out manoeuvres in Hanoe Bay, off Karlshamm. Several times the squadron crossed Swedish territorial waters, and was turned back by Swedish torpedo-boats which were patrolling. Later the squadron steamed north, and a cannonade was heard off the Swedish coast.

A later report states that it is believed the German flotilla only intends to fish there. There is a great scarcity of fish in Germany, and torpedo boats are participating in the fishing.
