Our line between Gueudecourt and Lesboeufs has been advanced 600 yds to • 1000 yds. " We captured the village of Le Sars, and made progress eastward ■ and westward of the village. "Our aircraft greatly assisted the operations." ReuUr. (Received 11.5 p.m.) PARIS. Oct. 8. A communique states: "North of the Somme our infantry, in conjunction with the British, attacked from Morval to Bouchavesnes. We carried our line forward 1300 yds north-east of Morval. " The new French line crowns the western slopes of the SaillySaillisel ridge, the whole of the Bapaume-Peronne road to a point 220 yds from Sailly, thence over Hill 130 to south of Bouchavesnes. " A great gathering of enemy troops north of Saillisei was caught by the concentrated fire of our batteries. " Violent artillery duels continue."
