Thefaction, which was due to jealosy of the growing power exercisedsy the father of .the Negus, did not «iuse any disorderuj the death of Menelik 11., in I the death of Menelik 11., in December, 1913, his grandson, Lij Yasu or |flssu, who Had been virtual ruler undf the guidance of regents, during the prefius four years, became supreme ruler of Abyssinia.
