PRO-GERMAN SYMPATHY IN NEW GREEK MINISTRY.
UNDERSTANDING WITH CENTRAL POWERS FAVOURED ALL THOUGHT OF INTERVENTION AGAIN SHELVED. Australian and N.Z. Cable. (Hoceivcd 5.5 p.m.) ATHENS. September 17. Nearly all the members of the new Cabinet belong to the party of the late 'M. Theotokis, which early in the war favoured an understanding with Austria and Germany with a view to obtaining a settlement in the Balkans. The views of some of the members of the party have been modified since the death of M. Theotokis. Australian and N.Z. Cable. (Received 10.15 p.m.) LONDON, September 18. The Athens correspondent of the Morning Post states that, with two exceptions, the members of the Greek Cabinet are strongly opposed to the policy of M. Venizelos. It is evident all thought of joining the war has again been shelved. Cable messages published yesterday stated that the Ministry formed by M. Calogeropoulos was transitional and non-political. M. G. Theotokis wan head of the Government formed in July, 1908, of which M. Gounaria was Minister for Finance.
