ELECTRICITY FOR MT. EDEN,
COUNCILLORS' « OPINIONS. ' The question of whether some steps should bo taken to provide an electric lighting and power scheme for . the Mount Edoa Borough was briefly discmised at last night's meeting of the Borough Council. Mr. J. W. Shackelford said that ho thought that the council should consider tlm'advisableness of doing iiomething in the matter. '•'•■' • ■ The borough engineer, Mr. J. Rogers; said that if the council decided to instal a plant of its own at the present time* 16 would have to pay very dearly for it. Tho price was now about 35 per cent- higher than the pre-war rato.' Tho Mayor, Mr. 0. Nicholson, said that perhaps it would be cheaper to obtain a supply of current from the City Council; Mr. Shackelford referred to what had been dons in the iouth in connection witlii j the Lakij Coleridge scheme. j Mr. E. R. Potter said that he thought I they should look to the Government for a I supply of current. ' Mr. J. Davis said that when "a little borough like Devonporl" had an electrical I installation, Mount Eden should be abla to do as well or better. , 1 No motion -was proposed, and the matter dropped.
