■..;s£. MOUNT EDEN. ' i The': Mount Eden Borough Council met last; evening. There were present: The Mayor, Mr. 0. Nicholson, Messrs. 0. Hudson, R. D. Stewart, J. Davis, A. E. BagTiall, J. W. Shackelford, W. Woolley, S. Burns, P. R. Skeatcs, H. 11. Seabrook, E. Yates, and E. H. Potter. Tho Finance Committee recommended that as the question of licensing hawkers could be dealt with only by by-law, no action be taken at present. The report was adopted. . * V, ~,?■ It was decided, on' the recommendation of • the. Streets Committee, that the roadway* at Mr. Pillar's property in- Disraeli Street !be cut back at a cost not exceeding £100, 'tin condition that, Mr. Pillar pays half the cost. V,j ; , : ' It was resolved that the levels -of Dominion Road, at the rise near Boundary Road, stand as shown on the engineer's plan. The question of the levels of Landscape Road was referred to the Streets Committee. A letter was received from the Auckland Drainage Board, asking the council to submit plans of reticulation showing the point to which the board desires the sewer from Meola Creek to be brought. The letter was referred to the Drainage Committee. .The borough engineer drew attention to a danger to traffic in Mount Eden Road, which existed between the railway bridge and Enfield Street, owing to the narrowness' of the bridge on the eastern sido of the .road Oil the Mayor's motion it •n-Js :;dsidedrthat the Tramways Company he-asked to-- stop cars nearer Enfield Street.-." MOUNT ALBERT. At a meeting of the Mount Albert Borough Council last niclit a letter was read from Mr. A. M. Ferguson, Consul for Belgium, asking the co-operation of the council in a scheme for an " egg week" during the second week in October, in aid of, the suffering Belgians, the-object beinc to store the eggs'in Auckland until Easter. They would then be sold at the high prices ruling at that time. It was agreed to express sympathy with the scheme, and to take steps to establish local depots to receive the eggs. . The members present wore the Mayor, Mr. Murdoch'McLean, and Messrs. T. B. Clay. H/T.'Markwick. F. J. H. Harrison, J. IE Bradnev, E. 11. Page, R. Gisbv, A. M. Wilson, and G. Knight. > A letter was read 'from the Auckland mid Suburban Drainage Board granting nermission for the council to connect to Xii. 8 sewer.
