AUSTRALIAN COFFEE STALL.
COMFORTS FUND WELL APPLIED.
Commonwealth Official.—Copyright.
August 21
Every day and every night soldiers going and coming to and from battle pass a certain Australian coffee stall. The fight is never so fierce, nor tho night ever so stormy, but the tired troops coming out of and tho fresh troops going into that cheerless, desolato battle-lino spend a few minutes at this cheery corner. Hot tea, coffco, cocoa, cake, and biscuits are to be had by any passerby at any timo as a free gift. Over the stall is emblazoned "Australian Comforts Fund." Unquestionably this is far and away the best use for comfort funds in sncli an emergency as this battle. As tho men light a parting cigarette and stow a piece of chewing gum into their pocket and hump their heavy packs to stroll off into the darkness I again and again heard them say: " R-ockon this idea is a grand one. Just what a man wants." There is mom than ono coffee stall now. It is hoped tho institution may be made permanent.
