MINING NEWS.
OCCIDENTAL CONSOLIDATED.
The drive in the Occidental Consolidated Mine, Thames, at No. 6 level, was advanced 15ft last week, making a total of 185 ft. This leaves about 25ft of driving to intersect the winze. Tho country has shown a great improvement. Tho reef is somewhat smaller, but is still a strong body of ore, and should make gold at any time. HAURAKI REEFS. The manager of the Hauraki Reefs mine, Coromandcl. reports that the rise from tho intermediate level, Wynyardton reef, junctioned with the winze sunk from No. 2 level last week. A few colours of gold were seen. Operations are being continued in the stope over Nc. 3 level, and a point has been reached within 15ft of where good picked stone was obtained in the block alongside. NEW SYLVIA. Tho north drive at No. 5 level in tho New Sylvia mine was advanced 19ft last week. The reef is as wide as the drive, and has been fairly well mineralised, but tho values are now lower. Little change has taken place in the stones. A ftope has been started north of No. 4 rise, and the quartz is fairly well mineralised. The rise on Norfolk reef is up 69ft. The reef is small, MURRAY CREEK RETURN. [BY TELEGRAPH.— association.] WELLINGTON, Monday. The Murray Creek return was 28oz for a broken fortnight. TAEROA WARDEN'S COURT. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN correspondent.] PAEROA. Monday. At the Paeroa Warden's Court, tho application of the Ohinemuri Gold and Silver Mines, Limited, for a certificate suspending 'labour conditions in the mine, which had been referred to the Minister for Mines, was granted for six months, to date from June 29.
