Major B. J. Dudley, N.Z.iLC., who ltf* been on a short visit to Auckland, rei turned to 4 the Awapuni ambulance camp last evening by the Main Trunk express. _ Mr. Charles Evans, who has been a resident- of the Poverty Bay district 'for the past 50 years, is dead. Mr. Evans was for many years manager of the Tearai station. Cable advice has been received by Miss Hellaby that her brother, Lieut. Arthur Hellaby, of the Royal Engineers, is in hoc* pital in England wounded with shrapneL Lieut. Hellaby is a King's College old boy and he had been at the front in Franc# for over a year before receiving his wounds. His elder brother, Mr. W. Hellaby, who enlisted in England, is also "somewhere in •b ranee."
