MOTOR MISHAP SEQUEL.
VERDICT FOR PLAINTIFF. AGED MAN'S INJURIES. In the civil division of the Auckland Supreme Court yesterday, before His Honor Mr. Justice Cooper and a jury, the hearing was resumed of the action of William Reeves {Mr. H. H. Ostler and Mr. L. A. Taylor), a man of 91, settler, of Tamaki West, v. Misses C. S- V. Basten and A. H. G. Basten (Dr. H. D. Bamford) for £541 damages for injuries alleged to have been sustained by being run over by the defendants' motor-car at Remuera on April 8 last. The plaintiff's left leg-was broken, and negligence was charged against the driver of the car, who, it was claimed, was unlicensed and inexperi-1 enced. The defence set up contributory negligence, and that the driver, a lady, was skilful and experienced. " ' Dr. Bamford and Mr. Ostler addressed the jury for the defendants and plaintiff respectively, and His Honor summed up the case.
The jury, after a lengthy deliberation, found a verdict for the plaintiff for £50, and for £33 9s special damages for medical and other attention. His Honor entered judgment accordingly, with costs on the lower scale.
