CANVASS IN AUCKLAND. SATISFACTORY RESULT.. War certificates and bonds continued in steady demand yesterday, the total sales of the - former amounting to a substantial sum for the day. The seven canvassers appointed by the post office will bring their campaign to a close to-day. Their operations, comprising a personal canvass of all firms employing more than half-a-dozen employees, have covered the whole of Auckland City and suburbs, including North Shore. As an indication of the response which has been made to the lecturettes, the sum of £5452 was invested in the loan yesterday by the employees of one firm in the city visited by the canvasser. Another firm advanced the money to its employees to purchase war certificates, making an arrangement for repayments extending over 16 months. The chief postmaster stated yesterday that the canvassing campaign had been eminently satisfactory, and had resulted in a very substantial total subscription from this source.

INVESTMENTS IN OHBISTCHUROH. TOTAL OF £215,791 TO MONDAY. [BY TELEGRAPH'OWN CORRESPONDENT.] CHRISTCHURCH. Thursday. Up to last Monday night a total of £791 had been invested in the war loan through the post offices in Canterbury. This sum represents the selling value of bonds and certificates, not the values on maturity, and is made up as follows :—Bonds £164,587, certificates at 16s (3645), £2916, certificates at £8 (6036) £48,280. The busiest day at the Christchurch Post Office was last Monday, when bonds sold represented £52,300 and certificates sold numbered between 1600 and 1700. Several sums of £10,000 were invested in. bonds, and the largest individual investment was £12,000.
