SIX ENEMY SHIPS HIT AND FORCED TO RETREAT. Australian and N.Z. Cable. (Received 7 p.m.) ROME. August 5. Details of the aerial bombardment of Flume, one of the principal ports of Austria, on the Adriatic, show that 24 Italian aeroplanes, each with a crew of three, and carrying an aggregate of four tons of explosives, were followed by some fighting aeroplanes- All the bombs dropped exploded, and destroyed munitions depots, and a submarine factory.

Bombs also hit six ships, which retreated in all directions. Six hostile aeroplanes attempted to engage the Italians, but were dispersed, one being destroyed.
