NOTES ON THE RACING [BY TELEGRAPH.OWN CORRESPONDENT, i WELLINGTON. Sunday. Glorious weather prevailed for the concluding day at Trentha.ni, and there was a record attendance and a record totalisatoi. The machine handled £49,156, and on tnelaci ) race alone there was a total of £8250, which ! was a record for any one race. The Southern horse Crib brought himself into prominence for the National Hurdles by disposing of a smart field in the Final Hurdles. He did not win easily, but was staying on at the finish. The Karamu-bred Vascular won the July Steeples like a good one. He ran a greatly improved race to-day, and his jumping waa !an improvement on the opening day. [ Golden March was a good favourite in the Hack Hurdles, but he failed badly and j finished in the rack. Ke stripped on the big side, and the race should do him good. I Tho wruner turned up in Patronymic, who i bent Austin and Sir Solo comfortably. i The Winter Cup favourite. Bisogne, had i another runaway victory in the Onslow Hantdicap. for which he was a "ood favourite. IHe is sure to run well at Riccarton. The i consistent Cherry Blossom was again ' runner-up. . Kirkbv appropriated the Hack Steeple- ' chase, for which Queen's Post was a good . favourite. The latter is over-done and re- ', Quires a spell. ! The Porirua-trained Kukri was the favj oxirite in the Crofton Handicap, but Sir Agnes, who won on the first day. comfortably accounted for him. while he just as I easily defeated the remainder. I New York and Wirokino mostly engaged the attention of backers in the July Steeplechase. but Vascular disposed of the pair after a great race. Wirokino acted as rac<*maV" T *■> tl- ■-- '•-* '"tec ar.c save a splendid I exhibition of jumping, but New York fencd j badly. Vascular was well handled by W. George and Sedd-el-Bahr had most friends in the Whiter Oat?, and of the nr.ir Parley's mount gave the best exhibition, h: - ; in the end he had to strike his colour* t-> the little-fancied Rinirforrrj and Comely.
